How-To Guides

Create Your First Article

Learn when to use Blank Draft or SEO Article Writer and how article statuses work in Kitful.

Kitful gives you two fast ways to start: write from scratch or generate a draft with AI. Both begin from the same place.

Step 1: Open the article creator

Go to Articles and click Create Article.

You will land on Create New Article, where you can pick the tool that fits the way you want to work.

Step 2: Choose how you want to start

Option 1: Blank Draft

Choose Blank Draft if you want full control from the start.

This creates a new draft article right away and opens the editor for you. It is the best option when:

  • you already know what you want to write
  • you want to paste in your own copy
  • you only need Kitful for editing, organizing, and publishing

Option 2: SEO Article Writer

Choose SEO Article Writer if you want Kitful to generate the first draft.

This is the best option when:

  • you want to start from a keyword
  • you need a faster first draft
  • you want help structuring a guide, tutorial, listicle, or comparison article

Step 3: Fill in the essentials

If you use SEO Article Writer, start with the core fields:

  • Article Type
  • Focus Keyword
  • Context (Optional)
  • Title (Optional)

You can also adjust settings for content style, structure, formatting, and images before you click Generate Article.

Step 4: Wait for the draft to process

When you generate an article, Kitful sends it to the Queued tab while it works in the background.

You may see progress updates like:

  • Queued
  • Researching topic...
  • Designing structure...
  • Writing article...
  • Improving readability...
  • Generating images...
  • Finalizing...

Once the draft is ready, it moves into your article list.

What Completed, Queued, and Scheduled mean

Completed

Completed is where your saved articles live. An article can still be a draft here, so think of this tab as your main article library.

Queued

Queued shows article generation jobs that are still running, waiting, or need attention.

Scheduled

Scheduled is for manual publishing slots you set up in advance. It is separate from writing and generation.

Step 5: Edit the article

Inside the editor, you can update:

  • Article Title
  • body content
  • Slug
  • Meta Title
  • Meta Description
  • Excerpt
  • Publish Date
  • featured image

You can also use Preview to review the article before you send it out.

Download the article

If you want a copy outside Kitful, open the Completed tab in Articles and use:

  • Download HTML
  • Download Markdown

Kitful downloads the article as a zip file. If the article has a featured image, Kitful includes that in the zip when it can.
